Conroe, Texas -
Presented by Mike and Ally Seder of The Seder Group Real Estate, RE/MAX The Woodlands & Spring, the 12th Annual CASA Superhero Run/Walk and Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021. This year's event will start and finish at The Lake House at Grand Central Park in Conroe and features 5K and 10K timed trail runs, a Hero Zero K, and a kids’ Trail of Treats. Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite Superhero and enjoy this high-demand, flat, natural terrain course. Participants in the Trail of Treats will receive their own commemorative bag and can walk the trail around the small lake, collecting treats at various stations. Everyone - runners, walkers, children and families – are also invited to the Fall Festival, which will host face painting sponsored by The Seder Group, a petting zoo sponsored by EnerCorp, a train sponsored by Waste Connections, balloon artist, bounce house, food and beverages, craft activities for children, a fall photo area, a vendor fair, and lots of fun for a fantastic cause.
When a family is in crisis and becomes involved in the child welfare system, a judge may appoint a committed volunteer to advocate for the child. That volunteer is called a Court Appointed Special Advocate®, or CASA. CASA Advocates provide valuable information to the judge and others involved in the case to help ensure a child’s best interest is being met. CASA volunteers stay by a child’s side throughout the case, advocating first for reunification when safe and possible.
CASA’s mission is to continue to provide a court-appointed volunteer to serve as Guardian ad Litem for every child in the foster care system. For the past 29 years, CASA has been training volunteers, raising awareness in the community, and working to end the cycle of child abuse in Montgomery County.
Last year in Montgomery County, 680 children were served by 350 CASA Advocates – 100% of children in foster care. It costs $1,500 to provide an advocate for a child for one year. All proceeds from the CASA Superhero Run and Fall Festival benefit CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County and support their mission of continuing to provide an Advocate for every abused child in need.
Online registration is currently open for the entire event – 10K is $55, 5K is $35 (virtual options available), Hero Zero K is $40, Trail of Treats and Fall Festival is $10 per child. Online registration for the 5K and 10K timed runs will close at midnight on Wednesday, October 27th, and prices will increase on race day. Online registration for the Trail of Treats and Fall Festival will close on Friday, October 29th and will re-open on site the day of the event.
